BBCA News – April 2019

Riding season is upon us!

We’ve got a lot of great events coming up in the next couple of months. I hope you’ll be able to join us! From our Weekly Club Rides to our new Friday Night Hiking series, there’s something for everyone! Check out the events below and #RIDEWITHUS!

The City of Big Bear Lake
The Big Bear Cycling Association and the Tour de Big Bear are proud to work in conjunction with the City of Big Bear Lake. Without the resources that the City provides to us, the Tour de Big Bear and many other community events would not be possible. We thank you for your continued support!

Weekly BBCA Rides
The weekly Club rides will begin the week of April 29th with the Java ride at 9 am and the MTB ride at 5 pm. Check out our schedule and Calendar of Events for ride times and locations.

Friday Night Hikes
BBCA member Rob Carpenter has organized our new Friday Night Hikes event. It’s a great way to cross train and socialize with friends and family.

Join us every second and fourth Friday at 5:30 pm for a fun hike and dinner to follow. The next hike is Friday, April 26th at Cougar Crest with dinner to follow at Maggio’s. All levels are welcome!

Saturday, April 27th – Brian Sabel Memorial Ride
A memorial ride for cyclist Brian Sabel, a Riverside area cyclist with ties to Big Bear, will be held in Riverside Saturday, April 27th. Brian was struck by a hit and run driver in the Riverside area and later died. If you’re interested in joining the memorial ride, visit for details. Please keep Brian’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers and be safe out there.

Friday, May 10th – Big Bear Cycling Association Annual Open House
Join us at Nottingham’s in Big Bear for our annual BBCA kick off party! Visit with local bike shops, the Trails Foundation, renew your membership and mingle with friends. Appetizers are included, no host bar with happy hour prices.

Saturday, June 1st – National Trails Day
Big Bear National Trails Day is a day to celebrate the beautiful Bear Valley trails! Sign up and volunteer – we need your help! It’s a fun-filled day that includes an introduction to trail maintenance, a trail run, picnic lunch, giveaways, and lots more. Event details and registration can be found at
